Make you text larger in web browsers

If you find the text on our website too large or too small, you can adjust this through your browser. Instructions can be found below to change the text size for the most popular Internet browsers.



Change the text size in Microsoft Internet Explorer 7/8

For Internet Explorer, IE 7 the way to change text size depends on how the site has been built. For many sites you only need to do the following:

Click on the 'Page' icon in the menu bar and then select 'Text Size' from the drop-down menu, or press Alt + P and then press X.

Choose your preferred text size by clicking on it, or by using the up and down arrow keys and pressing Enter.



Change the text size in Google Chrome 

On Google Chrome you can change the text size via the menu bar. Click on the Page Menu icon at the top right, or press Shift + Alt + T to access the toolbar, then press the right arrow key until 'Control the current page' is highlighted, and then press Enter.




Change the text size in Firefox 3 for Windows

You can change the text size on Firefox by clicking on 'View' and then 'Zoom' in the drop-down menu. Or press Alt + V and then press Z. If you want to only change the text size rather than everything on the web page, make sure 'Zoom Text Only' is ticked. You can tick or untick it by clicking on it or by pressing T.



Change the text size in Safari 

You can change the text size on Safari via the menu bar. Click on 'View', or press Alt + V, to open the 'View' drop-down menu. If you want to only change the text size rather than everything on the web page, make sure 'Zoom Text Only' is ticked. You can tick or untick it by clicking on it, or by pressing E.




Change the text size in Opera 

You can change the text size on Opera via the menu bar. Click on 'View' and then 'Zoom' in the drop-down menu, or press Alt + V and then press Z.

Click on the amount by which you want to increase or decrease the text size, or use the up and down arrow keys to highlight the value you want and then press Enter.



How to magnify the screen in windows 7

You can start Magnifier at any time by pressing the Windows key and '+' (plus), which is also the shortcut for zooming in.

Alternatively, open the 'Ease of Access Center' window by pressing the Windows key + U, or by clicking the 'Start' button, followed by 'Control Panel', then 'Ease of Access', then 'Ease of Access Center'.

Under the 'Quick access to common tools' header, shown in Fig 1, click 'Start Magnifier', or press Alt + G. This will start the magnifier for current use.



How to make your computer speak text out loud

Open the 'Ease of Access Center' window by pressing the Windows key + U, or by clicking the 'Start' button, followed by 'Control Panel', then 'Ease of Access', then 'Ease of Access Center'.

Under the 'Quick access to common tools' header, click 'Start Narrator', or press Alt + N. This will start Narrator for current use.
