The design and provision of parking is one of the key considerations in the planning of new development.  This document sets the standards for parking provision and provides guidance on good practice and design in Essex.  Parking Standards, Design and Good Practice is Supplementary Planning Guidance and has been adopted by a number of Local Planning Authorities as a Supplementary Planning Document to their Local Plans

This review of the Essex Parking Standards is to update it in light of the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) (2012) and at the same time the opportunity has been taken to address some issues which have come to light as the policies and standards have been applied over the last few years.
