About Essex Insight

Purpose

The overall aim of Essex Insight is to provide a web-based solution that provides benefits to the range of partners and the general public across Essex in the analysis of different data sets from different sources. It will enable effective sharing of data in order to inform analysis, action planning, strategic planning and the targeting of resources to provide a more effective and efficient service to Essex residents.  

The solution has a number of benefits and will assist in:

• Improving services to people in Essex such as Health Care, Children’s Services and Crime & Disorder related services

• Create a platform to build on for the future of Essex working together.  

• Support the move for greater data transparency to assist the Public with local decision-making

• Support initiatives such as Total Place and place-based budgeting.

• Increased prevention and detection of crime and disorder in Essex

• Increased consistency and regularity of information shared across the county

• Increased evidence based working within partnerships, specifically in relation to crime and disorder identification as well as linked factors

• Provide an efficient means to comply with (SI) 1831.

• Provide agencies with the means to use GIS systems to ensure activity is centred in the most relevant areas

• Provide agencies in Essex with access to an analytical tool and enhance/enable scanning (via a problem solving model)

• Reduce duplication of effort across CSPs and agencies

• Reduce the time it takes for CSPs to analyse information and produce reports

• Provide information and analysis that can be used to develop the JSNA and regular annual CSP Strategic Assessments, economic assessments and other performance monitoring
